Plantar pain

(3 discussions)

I am having pain in my feet (both) after I exercise.
It does not matter what exercise, its painful even after swimming.
Its worse when I swim and play beach volleyball.
I used to feel it after I rested my foot, after workouts but now I feel it even as I exercise and the pain shoots to top of my feet and at times my shins.
I am feeling pain even at rest.
Still the pain is most when I rest the feet after exercise When I get up in morning at times my feet hurt so bad I get to verge of crying from pain but as I walk it gets better.
I am 36 yo and have no other health problem (per 5/21 physical).
Any insights? Questions I should ask my podiatric Dr?

You actually have given a very good history. Without examining you I, my best guess would be plantar fasciitis. However, the best way to diagnose is with an evaluatuion in person.

i am a runner who has for the past few months been experiencing plantar facitis (or however it is spelled). The pain is almost subsided, but I am leaving for military training and I needed something to kill the pain. I recently received a cortizone shot in the heel, but it seems to be making it worse. Now it hurts to even walk. Will this pain eventually subside once my body accepts the medicine, or is the shot simply aggrevating the already painful condition?

It is not uncommon to have a steroid reaction to a shot. I always warn my patients that it might happen. It will pass after several days. Call your doctor is you need something more than an over the counter pain reliever. Do you have orthotics? Do you stretch? Do you use ice? (rolling your foot 3 times a day for 10 minutes on a frozen water bottle)
