plantaris tendon rupture

(2 discussions)

According to my doctor I ruptured my plantaris tendon.
I did it a week ago while running to base playing kickball.
It felt like a gunshot wound to my leg.
I have several questions – should I be icing it or applying heat to it a week later?
Should I still be using crutches?
It still hurts to apply my weight on it.
How long does this severe pain (like a charlie horse) last.
I am going to Disney World in three weeks. Also, does this just happen to out of shape people, or it could happen to anyone?

I was diagnosed with a Plantaris tendon rupture. It’s been two weeks. I’m walking with a little discomfort on level ground. Hills are still a problem. Question: What exersizes should I be doing to help my recovery and to minimize the chances of reinjury. Thank you, Sal

I was originally diagnoised with a torn calf and sent to PT. AFter 8 weeks of PT and me complaining about a deep pain my plantaris tendon snapped. it’s been 2 1/2 years and I continue to have problems with it. whatever you do don’t go to the Illinois Bone and Joint Institiute those guys are idiots!
