Possible torn rotor cuff………
(2 discussions)
I started physical therapy a week ago and still do not have much movement in my left shoulder up or out. The Dr. did not schedule a MRI as of yet, but if I do have a torn rotor cuff is therapy going to help this right now or hurt it? Also is surgery needed just to get back to everyday funtions of life? How long does this take, as it seems to be forever? Thanks, Marc

If it's already torn PT will do no harm. If it is torn the only way to get your function back is surgery, sorry to say. Rehab after a cuff repair is pretty intense, but you should be back to your function prior to injury in about 8 weeks.
