Hi, I would like to be a physical therapist some day. I am woundering what kind of exercises a patient would do after a spinal fusion operation. Thanks so much.

Some of the exercises they can do are pelvic tilts, mini squats, upper arm exercises, sitting long arc quads (kicking up foot)...there are a few more they can safely do. They CANNOT bend, twist or arch their back for 6-8 weeks or until the doc says it's ok. Usually they have to wear a back brace too.

I had fusion of the L-4, L-5, & S-1 in December of 2016.I was not put in any type of exercise rehab and have recently suffered a bad fall due to the negligence of a motel I satyed at. We are in litigation, but I want to know what exercises are suitable for me to do at this time. Thank you,David Hart
