Quad Injury

If I have diagnosed myself correctly, I think I have a torn quad.
I am a little tender going up and down stairs, but my main concern is when I try to run there is intense pain. (Slow jog is OK, running all out from the plate to 1st base is terribly painful).
I am stubborn and don’t intend to quit playing.
I have found information on the internet that says to ice it after I play, however, I have not found any information on what I can do to help strengthen the muscle to keep from re-injuring it each week. Any advice would be appreciated.Thanks!

    I have the same thing going on here, a few days after playing each week it feels back to normal where I can do squats and quad stretches w/ no pain, until I try to sprint, each time sharp pain in the exact same spot about 2/3 up the front of my thigh. Very aggrevating.
