Dr. Abrams, how do you usually approach treating mortons neuroma? andwhat do you recomend to patients after they have been injected with cortisone? rest, ice, anti-imflams? or going back to normal activity?basically I want to know what the keys are for proper MN healing. I had an injection today and I will be getting orthotics next week. Thanks, justin

I always advise patients there may be pain after the injection. I can not state reliably that they should rest for any period of time after the shot. I advise patients that the max number of injections =3. Then if they are still hurting, surgery can be their choice. You can do a Google search for Morton's neuroma and come up with alot of hits.

This is another possible treatment for a neuroma. I have done this on some patients. Some do declined because I tell them it will hurt and they must do a series of 5-7, Usually if there is no response after the 3rd then it is not likely to work. In the literature it is quited as having a high (about 87%) rate of success. My results have not been that good, but neither are injections of steroids.
