Re: protruding floating ribs

I just learned that I have one. My doctor said-> “you have a floating rib… it’s very common… here’s a perscription for the pain…I’ll see you in 3 weeks” From what I’ve learned, thus far, I guess my floating rib is possibly due to dancing (ballet, tap, modern, belly, african, ballroom, salsa…)? the treadclimber? pilates? swimming? Do we really just have to deal w/ the pain of a floating rib??

Though I don’t know what the doctor meant by ‘floating rib’ since everyone has them, the 11th and 12th ribs. I am going to assume you have a rib head pull or a dislocated rib head, it happens and it is VERY painful! It can be reset with a quick and easy adjustment. Then it has to be check a couple of days later to make sure it hasn’t ‘popped’ back out. Go see a DC and let them fix it. The pain will likely only get worse until you do.
