Recovering from a broken ankle

(3 discussions)

Eight weeks ago I fell outside my home, landing on my leg, which twisted underneath me.
The result was a broken tibia and fibula in the ankle area.
This injury required surgery, and I received two plates on the tibia, and several screws. X-rays show that the fibula is completely healed, and the tibia is well on its way to recovery.
My doctor ordered no therapy. My question is, what kinds of home therapy can I do to help speed up the walking again?
It looks like a long road back.

I broke my ankle and had surgery and I am in a air cast and will be for at least another 4 weeks; what can I do to help the recovery of me being able to walk sooner? Is there any excercises I can do while still in the cast? Please keep in mind I’ve been advised not to walk on my ankle yet; I’m just worried about loosing muscle mass and not being able to walk.

Hello _ I am recovering from a broken right ankle. I had surgery 7 weeks ago and am now in a fracture boot. I have two screws and a plate in my ankle. I cannot afford PT since I have no health insurance. Could you please give me some exercises to do instead of costy PT. Thank you ^i^
