red, swollen, hurting toes
My son was complaining about his toes hurting.
They were red at the base of the nails, a little swollen and starting to hurt.
One itched him a lot.
Is this something serious?
I can’t seem to find anything about it, and the doctor can’t fit him in for another 2 days.
Is there something I can do?
Is there some medication he can put on it?

If he has an infected ingrown toenail, then temporarily, soaking in warm (not hot ) water for several minutes 3times a day and dressing the areas with a topical antibiotic and keeping the area covered might be helpful. Without seeing it, though I can not be sure and my advice certainly is to have it seen about ASAP.
