regarding # 8 and 9 broken rib
please I need some information on this subject my dad who was fixing a roof of a house in puerto rico apparently he broke his ribs the 8th and 9th one, they didn’t do a thing for him at the hospital all they gave him was a shot of demerol please let me know what they should have done my dad is 67 years old and in great pain please help it would be greatly appreciated

I just broke the same 2 ribs when I just lost my balance and fell against a piece of furniture. The emergency room gave me a prescription for Loritab. It helps the pain, but knocks me out. TOTAL recovery is 6-8 wks, from what I understand. They no longer “wrap up” ribs lke they used to do. He needs to be very careful not to reinjure himself. I’m 55 and pretty darn uncomfortable. Bless him!
