Removal of the lateral sesamoid and pain

Dear Sir, to make a long story short I had my lateral sesamoid removed from my left foot in January 2013 but after 7 weeks on crutches and using a walking boot cast the pain persists more than ever. The sesamoid was broken in two pieces and was removed. But from an MRI taken last August it shows that there could be something wrong with the 1st metatarsal head similar to a ping pong ball being dented in. During the operation the surgeon (he’s supposed to be one of the best in North America) he cut the toop of the foot between the big toe and the 2nd toe and was unable to look at the 1st metatarsal head, even though he thought the pain was coming from the broken sesamopid. WHat’s left for me to do??? The pain is even worst than before the operation?

I am not sure what your pain is from, but it is possible that you are still healing from your surgery. There may be scar tissue and/or a nerve entrapment. There are other possibilities that can occur here, but without an examination, I can’t speculate. You must communicate your concerns with your doctor. Good luck.
