rib seperated??

I have apparently seperated a rib from the cartilage. It hurts and it is not sitting properly in my chest as I can feel the lump where the rib and the cartilage meet. I am just wondering what therapy is there for this. I have already gotten x-rays but because cartilage does not show up they do not see any damage, The good thing is no damage to lungs etc. I am a carpenter and want to go back to work. If I manage the pain is it safe to do so and will the rib reset itself etc
