right middle toe tingling/pain

In the last few months I have experienced right toe pain/tingling in the two toes next to the great toe when I am exercising for more than 20 minutes.
This exercise is either the treadmill or one similiar to a nordic trac. I have changed my shoes for better ones, and it still occurs.
This does not affect the toes on my left foot.
I am an operating room RN and on my feet most of the work day, but my toes do not bother me exept when exercising.
The discomfort goes away shortly after stopping the exercise, although I continue my workout for a total of up to 40 minutes.
Thank you for your time,Sherry

My guess is that you have a neuroma, sometimes referred to as a Morton’s neuroma. This is not a tumor, but rather an inflammation of the sheath of the sensory nerve. Women seem to get them more than men, although this is just my observation, I do not have statistics. I think women’s shoes have much to do with that. Sometimes injections of either cortisone or an alcohol solution can be helpful. Each of these is very different and some doctors do not have the alcohol to mix up. Sometimes surgery is the best choice. You should see a podiatrist for further information.
