ripped off toe nail

I ripped off my toe nail on the left big toe.
It was ripped completely off but is still attatched some how?You can see the base off the nail on top of the nail base,cutical and all. I went to the doctor and he said that I should soak it and within a few days it should fall off on its own. The pain is nausiating. I have soaked it in epson salt and put neosporin and a non-stick pad and non-stick medical tape.
what bothers me is the doctor didn’t try to move the nail or anything to see how attatched it still is. Should I see another Dr.??
