Rolled Ankle

um hi.. I’m fifteen and I was in gym class the other day and I landed on my foot the wrong way and the teacher said that I just rolled it but when you feel my ankles at the same time the one that I injured is flat and it’ green all along it and then there is a small line of bruises near the soal of my foot… I limp when I have my shoes on because it’s still swollen from three days ago… if I am sitting down and I put my foot on it’s side it also feels like its stretching something and it hurts but it doesn’t with the other foot…

    Shirleigh,You obviously sprained your ankle. Because of your age, I would suggest that you see your doctor. H/she might want to take an X-ray to make sure that you do not have a fracture. Even a very tiny fracture can cause problems if it occurs in a teen’s growth plate. Your doctor can also set you up with a Physical Therapist if needed, and can give you an ankle brace to support your ankle until it has a chance to heal fully. Use the old, Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation (R.I.C.E.) techniques until you can see your doctor, and please let us know how you make out. Good luck!
