Rotor Cuff Tear

Hello,
I think my daughter may have a rotor cuff tear. About 1 year ago she was doing a one handed cart wheel and fell on her right arm. Ever since that time she has had recurrent persistant pain that prevents her from sleeping at night. Pain medication and topical ointments do not seem to help. Nothing seems to help. When the injury first happened I took her to a walk-in clinic where they did x-rays which showed nothing wrong. The pain comes and goes (here one day, gone another) so I have thought that maybe she was just having growing pains. Now I’m having second thoughts about this because her pain is only getting worse with every recurrence. Please let me know if you think that she has a rotor cuff tear. Oh yeah, the area where she has pain is in her neck, shoulder and top part of right chest just under her color bone.ThanksConcerned MomTracy

Your daughter (how old is she anyway?) needs to be seen by an Orthopedist, and possibly have an MRI done to look for muscular injuries. Between the history, physical exam, and x-ray/MRI tests, the Orthodedist should be able to give her a diagnosis. Once you have a proper diagnosis, you can proceed with whatever treatment or therapy is needed. Please take your daughter to an Orthopedist, and then let us know what the diagnosis is. Good luck?
