Rotor Cuff Therapy

Had rotor cuff repair including bone scraping and anchoring one month ago.
I have been told that therapists can start passive therapy now that will help greatly in the long run, but doctor won’t approve for two more weeks. Can someone direct me to a site that will show passive therapy or give any input on this?

The best passive exercise for rotator cuff repairs is called the Codmans exercise. Here’s how it goes. Lean over holding onto a sturdy surface, like a counter, with your good arm. Lean over far enough so you are bent at the waist about 90 degrees. Let your surgical arm just hang down. Move your body and left your arm hang lose and listless….your arm will move like a pendelum from the movement of your body. Move your body forward and back causing your arm to move forward and back (do not use the muscles in your arm to move, rather the momentum your body creates) side to side and move your body to make your arm go in a circle right…then left. DO NOT hold any weights in your hand…. Do a few times a day 10-20 reps in each direction. Ice for pain control after exercises. good luck…M. Scott PT
