ruptured bicep

(2 discussions)

My husband ruptured his bicep in mid-December and had surgery in early Jan. The Dr. said that the tendon did not tear away from the bone but tore apart within itself. He said that he did the best he could repairing it but because of the time frame(almost three weeks after injury) he was not able to “fix” it as well as he would have liked. All was going well with therapy and the PT dismissed him with instructions to slowly begin building the muscle. He had started slowly and at 9 wks after surgery he was starting to curl 8 lbs. Then the problem: in a bit of frustration, he was sitting in the recliner and slung a book. The action involved his arm straightening quickly and also some slight rotation in the motion.Since then his arm has been sore.
He cannot rotate his wrist without pain.Has he torn the muscle again?Plese advise.Thanks. Joy

I ruptured my bicep tendon 3/8/ when I reached down to the floor to pick up a small bottle of water. Apparently I turned my wrist as I lifted the bottle, then I felt a “pop” and intense pain. A short time later there was also a burning sensation in the upper arm. It is now 3/20/ and my bicep has started to bruise. The bruise is approximately 2 inches long with another part of it extending outward across the bicep about 1 1/2 inches. Is this normal?

I injured my right bicep muscle at the head on my right arm on June 18 while doing push ups at a military school. I heard a pop and felt as if my arm was broken. This happened at around 0430 in the morning and by night time ready to go to bed my arm was bruised so bad it looked as if someone had beatened me in the arm with a fist or an object. Lots of time with 5lb weights hopefully I can return back to full strength at my job. Posted August 9
