Ruptured Bicep Tendo

(2 discussions)

REcently I ruptured by bicep tendon.
I had an MRI and they recommend surgery.
Some people say not to have surgery.
If I do not get surgery what can the complications be.
If I do get surgery what can the complications be? Also how long does this take to heal with or withour surgery?

re your injury after an accident I tore the distal tendon clean off at the elbow.fortunately I was able to attend at the local hospital who had me in surgery within an hour of the accident happening. They used some sort of plug/screw to which they aattached the tendon then screwed it back onto the bone beneath the elbow.the recoverey period was 3 months during which time I had a plaster cast on for the first 8 weeks there after I had very intensive physiotherapy. The arm has fully healed and recovered all its strength looks a bit odd as the biscept starts a bit furher up the arm and not directly at the elbow, however all things considered a minor price to pay.If I can help in any way get back to me its always good to talk to someone who has had experiance of what you are going throughregardswillie

I had surgery 7 weeks ago and just getting out of the cast. I started working the arm this week. The biggest pain part is rotating my wrist. I can go about one third of the way in either direction. My doctor said I should be OK in about 8 more weeks. I was helping lift a Seado in the water on to a trailer and my arm just popped. It felt like something ran up my arm which I later found out was my bicep tendon. The pain was great but the therapy is even harder. I hope it gets back to how it was before. But being 51 years old may not help.
