It should be done ASAP! Within a week is optimal. I had mine delayed about a month and the repair was not perfect. The tendon developes scar tissue and shortens. When they reattatch it they must cut off the scarred tissue and it ends up shorter. I cannot fully straighten my arm now, hardly noticable but still affected. If you wait too long they must either graft a tendon from your wrist or knee or attatch it to the other arm bone. Both not good options for a full recovery.
