Scholosis

(3 discussions)

I was diagnosed with scholosis when I was 12 and told by my Doctor that there was nothing they could do. I am now 41 & am in pain most days anywhere from my neck to lower back. The curves are quite pronouced now with a curve to the right shoulder blade and the other way from back to front. I have been told that because of this my hips are out as is my ribcage. My right shoulder is lower than the right & I feel not at all straight when I walk. Is there anything that can be done at this late stage, any type of exercise apart from swimming leaves me very sore. I would appreciate any suggestions of what I can do or the best person to go & see. Thank you Emma

I was diagnosed with scholosis when I was 12 and saw a back doctor for about 6 months and went and saw a specialist and had surgery and I now have a metal rod in my back and I am doing great. If I didn’t have the surgery I would be paralyzed and I am now 26.

im 13 and have been diagnosed with scholosis last year, I have 2 curves and my hips and shoulders are lower down than one another, I have pain in my right shoulder blade everyday now, and have been told that scholosis doesnt cause pain, thats a lie as it does, anyway I have also been told by my consultant( I think I spelt that right) that they can give a “brace” to help or they can offer surgery if you curve is over a certain measurement..hope I helped good luck

I was diagnosed a year ago when I was 12. It’s not so servere that it causes me any pain and I’ve decided that if I can help it, I’m not going to let it get any worse. I’ve researched many different alternative methods and possible causes for scholosis and have decided that the most effective method as opposed to surgery is yoga or pilaties. Through numerous stretches you can stop the progresson of your curve and possibly decrese the degree of your spine’s curve. Through hours of exercise and stretching you can lenghten and stretch your lateral curve and there are other excercises to help with others. Good Luck, Brianne
