Sever dislocating knee cap.
(2 discussions)
I am 35 yrs old. My knee cap on my right leg has dislocated twice in the last 15 yrs severely. It has dislocated 2 other times that I was able to just push back into place myself. I went to see an orthopedic doctor and he told me he wanted to do a lateral retincular release and a patella realignment. Which in his describtion of the procedure it sounded rather comlicated to me. I was looking at a long surgery and a 3 month recovery. Is this the only obtion I have to fix my problem? I have been wearing a full leg brace now for 3 weeks and before I let him do this surgery I am getting a second opinion to make sure that is the only way to keep my knee cap in place. Please HELP!!! I am really nervous and scared

Hi, I tried to mail you but I got a mail back saying your email address is unvalid. I am 25 and have had several patella dislocations. Had both procedures, lateral release (December), patella realignment (August). I am currently recovering from the realignment, but my knee feels good and stable now. If you want to know more please feel free to mail me.

Hi My name is maggi, I also have had dislocating knee cap medially for 44 years. when I was younger I broke my knee cap though twisting the knee., It dislocated regually throghout my teenage years. & weeks ago I had a with lateral release, knee re-alingment and cartlidge repair 7 weeks ago. It is not going to well at present kneecap is still going medially which as I have benn told that it can not be, I have been like this for 44 years of people not believing me. I was hoping having the surgery would correct it. Has it helped you, how long were you off work, and have phiso, I am going to order the knee support. I have been told to get on with life and get back to work within 2 weeks, some hope when I am still on crutches at present,
hope you will reply maggi
