Severe drop foot syndrome

(2 discussions)

I need support for my toes -right foot- due to nerve damage from back surgery. I wear a apo now. Is there anything else available…like a “spring-foot” that would fit in my shoe. The brace is hot and uncomfortable on the calf of my right leg. Also… Do you recommend any other shoe but sneekers. I am so sick of sneekers. I have no dorsey or plantar flexion. Can you put me in touch with a support group of people with foot drop. Thanks for your help…

Hello 7 years ago I had an operation on my right leg to the left and below the knee it was to cut a bone growth out! The doctor cut my nerves and since then have never been able to lift my right foot or the toes exept for the 3rd and 4th toes it has never worried me but now it is realy bugging me and can’t take it any more! 2 years after that I had another operation to restich the nerves but no such luck it was the same! Nearly two years ago I had a back operation to replace 2 or 3 discs in the l4 l5 and s1 area! I don’t know what to do and don’t know if it can be fixed if you could please supply me with some info! I am 19 years old in 8 months! thank you

hello my sister recently had a back operation to remove 2 discs, no mention was made of foot drop, and that this could happen to her, she can’t feel her right foot at the ball of her foot, and cannot walk properly, she is devestated by this, this happened only 3 days ago, so still early days, basically we are trying to find out as much info as we can on this, here is my question, I want to know if this can be corrected with surgery, will she ever be able to walk normally again, the surgeon seems to be more bothered about his reputation than trying to offer her support and answer her questions, we want to know what avenues to take, as to getting her better, can she exxpect a recovery or is it a case of dealing with it as how it is now, I know the nerve has been stretched, where does she go from here, anyone that can offer advice or info or anything is greatly appreciated, she lives in america in Virginia, anybody out there willing to give advice, or refer her to specialist doctor, please let us know, you can e-mail me at [email protected]. Thank you
