severe foot pain

hi, I have horrible foot pain in my left foot. it is located on the outside area between the ankle bone and the achiliies tendon. I have been to a orthopedic. they have done a MRI which showed sweling under the ankle bone, also I have had emg and nerve velcoity which have come back fine they have also taken blood which was fine too. the doctor feels there is nothing more he can do for me but the pain is still there..there is so much swelling but the anti inflamitories don’t help.
I work full time on my feet at a grocery store and some times the pain is so bad I have to crawl I am going to see a podiatrist any tips for what I can talk to him about?
any help would be great for I feel the doctors I have seen cannot do anything.. thanks for you timeHeather in Florida

The location of your pain may indicate several different and unrelated things. Depending on what I saw at examination, I would consider a tendonitis or tear in one of the peroneal tendons. A ruptured ankle ligament also might be a cause. There also could be a bony problem. The MRI might have shown any of these. I recommend you get copies of your MRI when you go see another doctor. Until then, you might get the best ankle brace you can find-probably at a sporting good store. Good luck.
