Sever’s disease

My 11 yr old has been diagnosed with Sever’s disease and her orthopedic MD suggested heel cups/pads such as the blue dot gels that are on the market (He was non-specific and was not particularly in favor of any brand/type). Are these Quags superior to the gel types? In your practice do you notice any difference in outcome. This of course was in addition to rest, heat/ice, foot exercises, calf stretches, no walking bare foot, non steroidal anti-inflammatory meds.

The quags are lighter weight more comfortable and cost about half as much. It would be interesting to compare both types. Too bad he couldn’t try both types. The people at footwearconsultants.com might have some advice since they have both types and one of the pedorthists – Dean Morgan has written some papers on sever’s disease. He has worked with quite a few patients in the years that he has treated this. He also does the custom orthotics but for severs disease he recommened I get the quags. Of course the Dr. would prefer not playing sports and giving it a rest. This has helped or stretching or something.
