Shaq’s Toe

I understood Shaq’s toe surgery, a cheikectomy, was to remove bone spurs from the top of his big toe.
Now he complains of pain on the bottom of his foot, and that pain has been described as a result of sesamoditis.
Is the sesamoditis a separate souce of pain in the foot, or will the cheikectomy impove not only the bone spur pain, but the sesamoditis also?
