Shin lump above left ankle

I have been having pains in my left shin and ankle bone. There is a small lump on my shin just above the middle of the top of the ankle.
If touched, there is no pain.
It can only be seen when I stretch out my leg and foot. The shin and ankle sometimes are painful when I first go to bed and try to get comfortable. I do have orthodics and the pain is better when I have them on during the day. I do have arthritis in the same foot near the instep on the big toe side.
The podiatrist gave me a shot of cotisone for the arthritis and that pain has disappeared. Is this something serious?

Since I can’t see this “lump” I can not really give you any information. A sonogram or MRI might give you more information.
