Shoes for Plantar Fascitis

(2 discussions)

I was recently seen by a local podiatrist who diagnosed my foot pain as Plantar Fascitis.
I have recently been shoe shopping and am wondering if Earth shoes (www.earth.us) would be good for me to wear.
Could you please answer this question and also suggest shoe brands that are good for people with this foot condition?
thank you.

There is no one shoe that is right for everyone as each persons feet differ. I do not think that a shoe alone is always the answer. Sometimes an orthotic, whether pre-fab or custom made are helpful. I recommend SAS shoes, New Balance athletic shoes, Brooks, Saucony, Avia, Easy Spirit shoes. By no means is this a complete list. I hgenerally discuss a patients needs and wants before making a recommendation. There are people who would not consider spending more than $25 for shoes and others who think $250 is nothing. The only Earth shoes I have seen are carried in Walmart. They do not appear to be the same negative heel concept from back in the 1970’s.

Thank you for the quick response. The list is helpful. However, I still wonder if Earth shoes are generally considered good for those with plantar fascitis. The Earth shoes I am speaking of are the same ones with the negative heel concept from the 70s. I would appreciate any specific thoughts on Earth shoes for plantar fascitis sufferers. Thank you.
