Shorten toe?

Hi,
woundering about shortening my toes. My second toe is longer on both feet and I was wondering if it is possible to shorten them… What the cost is and if it is painful… What about recovery? how long? Thanks, please write back.

    The short answer is yes, it is possible to shorten your 2nd toe. However, many doctors myself included would not do this procedure for strictly cosmetic purposes. There should be a medical necessary reason, such as pain, hammertoe, bone spurs, etc.
    All foot surgery is inconvenient. It is the only part of the body that gets cut on and people expect to walk on it. Gravity is your enemy when you have had foot surgery. You must be mentally prepared for the post operative period of a number of weeks of not wearing closed in shoes. I can not ever tell a patient how much pain they will have. In all the years I have been doing surgery, I assume the worst and hope for the best. This way I have prepared the patient.
