shoulder

Hi!About 13 years ago I had arthroscopy to repair a torn rotator cuff from an accident. It was fixed and for 13 years off and on, I have had some pain/popping in the shoulder. Suddenly in September I started having real pain. I thought I tore the cuff again, from carrying heavy luggage, etc. I had an xray and it just showed scar tissue. I took Celebrex and it helped a bit (gave me an upset stomach, though). He ordered an MRI and it showed no tear or abnormalities to the cuff. It did show mild degenerative changes about the humeral head laterally and also degenerative changes to the acromion. I assume this is wear and tear or arthritis? Anyhow, gave me a cortisone shot, which has made my arm very painful (been 24 hours) and another anti-inflammatory. MD said if that doesn’t work, he will try another pill, possibley an arthrogram (which is said is somewhat painful), or last resort scope it.Would PT help this if it is degenerative? I have had such pain for over 2 months and I thought it was a tear. A tear seemed cut and dry to deal with, so to say. This is not…Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi! Just want to add..the shot didn’t help too much. It has been over two days now. Still aching and hurting. Ortho said, if it is going to help, it will pretty quickly. Otherwise it wouldn’t. Didn’t suggest PT though. : About 13 years ago I had arthroscopy to repair a torn rotator cuff from an accident.
