Shoulder Impingement Question

(4 discussions)

Hi. I was diagnosed by my orthopedic surgeon with right shoulder impingement about 2 1/2 months ago.
Have been in PT for 8 weeks and am still having very sharp pains in front of shoulder down the front part of my arm.
It only hurts when I move it a certain way, mostly when I put my arm behind me to reach into my back pocket and hurts when I lift it when laying in bed at night. Also, is very sore when I first get up in the morning until I have had a hot shower or been moving around some to work out the soreness.
Where do I go from here? Could it be something besides shoulder impingement? Do I need to be icing it or heating it? do I continue PT at this point? Thanks.

Light stretching, band exercises for shoulder/upper back, bicep/tricep curls. Ankle weights on my arm doing light exercises for the ratator cuff and shoulder muscles. Ultrasound and ice after my exercises. Thanks.

THanks for the info… When you use the ankle weights for the rotator cuff exercises are you standing or lying down? Tell me how you are moving your arm and what the weigth is. You can email me at [email protected]
