Shoulder Tendonitis?
Hi. My Doctor says I have tendonitis in the shoulder. I have severe pain and loss of function/mobility. The pain is in the RIGHT UPPER ARM..not the shoulder. I had an XRAY which just showed some arthritis. I had an MRI which showed tendonitis. I was expecting it to show a tear but it did not. Pain is severe…cannot get comfortable especially when reclining. I’m taking anti-inflammatory meds which have done no good. I got a steroid injection in my shoulder which did no good. I assume this has happened due to my constance typing…I’m a web designer and spend hours at my computer. What can I do to help make this better? Stopping work is not an option. When I put my arm in certain positions, or jerk for any reason, the pain is so severe that I just bend over in agony until it subsides. Changing clothes is awful. Please help!!

May PT
I can relate....ask your dr. if you can go to PT, first to evaluate your sitting posture at your desk and they can make appropriate recommendations. Second, to provide modalities to reduce pain and to evaluate you for muscle imbalances that may have set your shoulder up for impingement in the first place. In the meantime, use ice 15-20 minutes as needed for pain, rest the shoulder when having increased pain, which means if it hurts when you type, stop typing. Good Luck,. Mya
