Siatic nerve and bad knee

I have long endured a painful left knee due to deteriorated components, but in recent months the sciatic nerve from my left hip to my foot has become even more painful … making it difficult at times to bend and/or use the leg.
The sciatic nerve pain worsens dramatically during and after riding my road bike — mileage doesn’t matter — the pain starts early-on in the ride and continues for several days after completing the ride.
I’m aware of herniated discs, etc.
My question is: Has anyone resolved this sciatic nerve pain while still exercising and without surgery of some kind?

Do you have herniated discs? Maybe you need a different seat for your bike. Do you carry a wallet in your back pocket? If you do stop carrying it there. It causes compression on the sciatic nerve when you sit. Are you leaning over very much when you ride? Try elevating the handle bars so you are in a more upright position. Stop riding for a while to let the nerve “calm down”. Maybe you need to take up a new sport, like swimming. Good luck
