side of heel pain

I have pain on the inside, side of my left heel.
The pain is closer to the arch than to the back of the heel.
It hurts when I stand with a straight leg and unbent knee, and reach my hands to the floor.
If my knee is bent it does not hurt.
If I stick my leg straight out while sitting in a chair it hurts to flex my foot with my heel pointing out.
It feels like something is sort of tearing.
I have had plantar facietus before and this feels differently, as it is not on the bottom or back of my foot, but down along the side.
I am wondering if it could be linked to tight hamstrings and if stetching is appropriate or rest is better.Any advise would be appreciated.

Hi Samantha. I can’t help you but suffer perhaps from the same injury since picking up a sharp pain on the inside of my heel at 9km. in a marathon last weekend. Prior to that I had a little heel discomfort a day or so after strenuous, long runs but never during a run. I ran sort of out of the pain last Saturday and finished but was very sore and swollen the folowing day. After a week’s rest and one physo treatment, I walked a few golf holes and the pain returned. Not sore in the mornings. Can feel a related pain in the calf muscle. any help, diagnosis, treatment please?Anyone out there?Andr
