Skin irritation with McConnell taping

(2 discussions)

To correct my patellar tracking problem on both knees, I find I prefer McConnell taping to wearing a stabilizing brace.
The only problem I have with the tape is that it really irritates my skin.
I have heard that there is some sort of analgesic spray I can use before taping to lessen the irritation.
Pharmacists are perplexed at my request.
Is there such a thing and where can I buy it?

There is a skin protectorant swab that you can put on before applying the tape. It forms a barrior to keep the tape glue from direct contact with your skin. Go to where you got the tape and they should have this. It comes with the tape in a kit.
