SLAP Tear Level 1

(3 discussions)

I have been diagnosed with a posterior labrum ibrum tear (SLAP).
I won’t be having surgery until october and was wondering if there are any deltoid strengthening exercises I might be able to do in the meantime.
I have tried military press but there is too much pain, dips and incline bench also hurt.
Thanks.

Sorry, can’t help you but I do have a question. Why is you surgery not until October. My son also has a suspected SLAP tear and we has MRI next week and if confirmed hoped to get surgery asap.

I have been diagnosed with the same SLAP Tear in my left shoulder. The pain has been there in flashes but not as earth-rattling as when the initial injury occurred, around Memorial Day. My Orthopedist has suggested I avoid the surgery, but I want to be able to do the various things I’ve been doing with my kids Will waiting help or harm the SLAP Tear?

I had one and was trying to decide about surgery. Just had the repair and am glad I did because over the 3 weeks prior to the procedure it went down hill fast and I was counting down the hours till it was done. Good luck!!! If you get it done be sure to ask the doctor about a good sling. Since your arm is asleep for up to 24 hours post surgery I was happy to have a DonJoy UltraslingII AB which has a pillow that velcros on it to support your arm. The lightweight cloth one from the hospital was too wimpy.
