Son has Osgoode Schlatters

My son, Scott, was diagnosed with Osgoode Schlatters disease last June 2010. As he was about to test for his junior black belt in karate, he continued his training, in considerable pain. Our family doctor indicated that there is no known cure and that he likely would ‘grow out of it’ in about a year.
Scott has reduced his karate schedule considerably after getting his black belt, but still suffers from the pain, especially during Phys.Ed. classes at school.
Scott is only 12 1/2 yrs old.
Is there any hope that he will eventually be pain free?

i had it around his age, and i’m 19 now, and the disease is gone, but I still have very bad knees. whether or not it was caused by this I don’t know, I have a stretched acl in my left knee and I have problems with dislocated my kneecap in my right knee. I doubt this had anything to do with osgoode schlatters
