Stomach Exercise


I am a 59 year old male in good health except for a weak lower back stemming from my military jet aircraft flying.
Supports help but I’d like to move away from them.
Is it true that you can strengthen a weak lower back by doing stomach exercises?
If so, what is a good exercise? Hopefully, a side benefit would be a reduction in my “pooch” and “love handles”.

  2. i am a 27-year-old man, have been doing abdominal exercises for the past 2 years consistently. but i still have a considerable amount of fat on the upper portion of the abdomen and on the sides too. can u advise me on how to reduce these effectiely. i am on a regular diet also.

Thank you.: HarryHarry: The person that told you you can help support your back by doing abdominal exercises is correct. Actually, your back is probably stronger than your stomach and that can cause back pain. Reverse sit ups where you bring both knees up towards your chest are a good way to stregthen your lower abdominal muscles. Also,try squeezing a ball or pillow between your knees and raising your knees up. Do these slowly and with your back flat against the floor. Only work in a painfree range. Do low reps, hi sets (15-20 reps, 4-5 sets.) Consult your physician if your back pain persists or if you have symptoms down your legs.

    • i have doing abdominal exercises for the past 2 years consistently, but not with satisfaction. my problem is i still have fat on my upper belly and little fat on sides and bottom belly. can u advise me as to how i can effectively reduce my upper belly and sides please?

  4. I am a 28 year old guy. I suffered a paralysed right hand in 1993 due to a car accident. i would like to know if there are some exercises which i can do with one hand to keep fit. If there are could you please send them to me.Regards Rod
