subluxed cuboid

(3 discussions)

Hi,
I think I have subluxed cuboid. Bone is really sore on outside of foot and sore to press on…Also sore all around area…tendonitis?
What can I do?
Was walking 3 hrs. a day, now can hardly make it 30 min..
They keep changing my orthotics, but it isn’t helping…
Should I be resting totally and staying off it…? Ice and anti-inflamm’s don’t do much.

The subluxed cuboid is very frequently a missed diagnosis. It can also be difficult to treat. Treatments can vary from manipulation, taping the side of the foot to hold the cuboid in place works sometimes, ultrasound therapy, anti-inflammatory medicine, muscle relaxers, injections of cortisone, orthotics, even immobilization in a cast brace. Sometimes, I will refer a particularly difficult case to a chiropractor. I will usually check if they even know what I am talking about- some of them specialize in other areas. You might also need to get some further tests such as a bone scan or MRI to rule out a fracture. Good luck. Vivian A DPM

Is there a strap or brace that might work? Should I be staying off the foot or is it okay to walk? I’ve been walking 30 min. twice a day. I used to walk 3-4 hrs. a day. Also, is swelling and a feeling of tightness on top of the foot between the two ankles a symptom of subluxed cuboid? Thanks,Judi

I’ve had 2 mobilizations by physio without much relief… I’m worried about getting ligament laxity with too many adjustments…How many is too many? As soon as you have an adjustment, should you notice an improvement, or does it take a few days, or weeks? Thanks Judi
