Superior Extensor Retinaculum

On my right foot- if you feel that big bone that sticks out on the INSIDE of the foot- there is a “soft spot” TO THE IMMEDIATE RIGHT OF IT- that is very sore after playing football. From the sites i’ve seen…. I think it’s that “strap” looking muscle called the “Superior Extensor Retinaculum”. You know if your knee gives/or if you’re kicked right behind the knee and your leg bends…
I feel a sharp pain in that foot area I described above.

The retinaculum is not a muscle. It is a band of connective tissue that holds underlying structures in place. If you are having some problems, why not see a podiatrist.
