swollen ankle&pain in heel

i am a 52 yr old female. my left ankle swells when i’m on my feet a lot. figured it wasn’t unusual due to age, arthritis, whatever. but now my heel feels like I have a bruise (i don’t) and my entire left leg sometimes tingles and aches. may be my imagination, but the left leg also looks like it may be a few shades lighter than the right…help?

There is a possibility that the swelling is compromising your circulation and/or the nerve supply. I suggest you see a podiatrist to have this further checked out.

I can not give you an absolute answer for sure, but I would tend to think if the problem was heart related both legs would be affected. Good luck

After having this surgery is it possible to return to work right away and does the surgery usually require being casted. I stand pretty much all day and walk quiet alot in my job. Thank you Shea

Thanks, Ms. Abrams, for the reply. Helps to confirm my decision to go ahead and have it checked out. After getting a couple more opinions confirming the fact that the left leg is slightly lighter in color than the right I’m sure I need to have it diagnosed. I have heard of some sort of surgery where veins are “stripped” in the leg…does that relate to my problem or is that something to do with heart related problems? Forgive my ignorance – fortunately, I’ve been healthy most of my life and a lot med terms & situations are unfamiliar to me.
