SYMPTOMS OF TORN MENISCUS???

I have been to the Dr. for knee pain. The pain ranges from severe, to mild to non existent (upon awakening in the morning) It only hurts on the inside. Is this typical of a torn meniscus….that it doesn’t hurt ALL the time??? Thanks for the advice. I am going to have an MRI, the xrays showed nothing.
