tail bone pain

(3 discussions)

I have had tail bone pain for the last 2 years.
It is becoming more painful. I am 50 years old.
I have been using a donut, I excercise at least 5 days a week.
I finally went to my Doctor who ordered an xray of my back and tailbone.
My tailbone was fine, and my back had mild-moderate dengerative disc disease, which I had been diagnosed with several years ago. My Dr suggested that I keep doing what I have been doing, but if it hasn’t helped after a year, I don’t feel that it is going to change at this point. Any suggestions would be helpful as the pain is making it difficult to drive, fly, long distances, to ride my horses, and to even run my business.

    Dorine,
I have had recent sucess with a patient who had acute coccyx pain after falling down the stairs. Unfortunately, you are in the chronic phase. Please check out this website This a great website with various experiences of other patients. In other words, there are other options, including excision of the coccyx being the most invasive. Have you attempted chiropractic treatment? Soft tissue treatment would also be appropriate to the ligaments surrounding the coccyx.Your treatment will also depend on how you hurt yourself, and what other treatment has been attempted.Feel free to give more details if you would like other suggestions.

Good Morning, I am a 55 year old, female and have been suffering with a sore tailbone since 1998. I fell down 5 stairs in my home. I was getting cortisone shots which would last about a year. This year I had my shot but had to go back in 2 days to have more shots since the one session did not do the trick. The pain was under control after my second visit. The problem now is these shots have only lasted 5 months. My doctor says that arthritis has set in. I am in a lot of pain when sitting and when getting up. I have an office job where I do a lot of sitting. Can you suggest anything for me? This problem is making me feel very miserable. Thank you, Sincerely, Loretta Merrimen.
