tailbone and rib

I am 5’10” and 135 pounds.
I am very healthy and 57 years old.
I have been doing yoga for about three years and recently noticed because I am more in tune with my body that my left rib protrudes a lot and so does my tailbone.
My yoga teacher says I have a little scoliosis. Can you explain any of this that I have never noticed and is there anything I should be doing or not be doing

Scoliosis can really only be evaluated by a trained professional. X-rays are normally a determining factor but DCs with high palpation skill levels and performing the proper tests can find it without X-rays. You may have scoliosis and you may not. Typically people have a mild curvature of the spine to the side of handedness due to differential muscle growth and posture. That is normal. As for your coccyx, it may have been like that since birth or you could of had some trauma that makes it abnormal. Or it may very well be normal. As for what can be done, at your age your spine is pretty much set in stone. There will be some change due to degeneration and chiropractic care can slow this change but there would not be any major changes due to any sort of therapy at this time, barring a major trauma.
