Tailbone Pain

(6 discussions)

I have noticed over the past month an occasional pain in the area of my tailbone, right at the top of by butt crack. It feels like a bruise, although I have no memory of injuring it. It comes and goes, and is usually more noticible at the end of the day. Nothing feels swollen or anything. A few months ago, a chiropractor told me that my hip was out of place, and re-adjusted it. Could this pain be due to my hip being out of place again?

I too have pain right in that same spot, except I know for a fact I had severe trauma to that area during a sporting accident that may have caused fracturing. This was about 4 years ago but it has recently turned into a tumor and it’s painful to sit down on hard surfaces… What should I do about this ?

I am not sure if I am appealing to right person or not. At this point I am completely lost and feeling completely helpless to help my child. I have a 13-year old daughter who was diagnosed with Psoriasis in October 2013,along with the psoriasis she has had a constant pain right on her tailbone often making it difficult (sometimes impossible) to move about or get up and down. She has been for X-rays, MRIs, and numerous blood work studies. She has been to see her Dermatologist, Pediatrician, Orthopedic Surgeon, Pediatric Rheumatologist (UNC-CH) and Physical Therapist. No one can seem to figure out what the problem is or what we should do about it. They keep throwing drugs at her – she is on tons of different steroids (that she has to apply throughout the day) and she has been on Naproxen (no effect), Ibuprofen (no effect) and is now on Vioxx (no effect and making her sick). I am desperate to find someone that might be able to help and even more has time and wants to. If there is anything you can do or suggest I would be grateful. Michelle R. Bouchr…. For the past couple of days the top of my butt has ben bothering me and I’m assuming its my tail bone. When I bend down or sit straight up it hurts. It also feels a little swollen right at the top of my crack.
