tendon tear

The MRI showed that I have a partial posterior tibial tendon tear. I have been wearing a boot and resting it to see if it heals. What is your treatment plan for this? I am also wondering if I should get a second opinion with an orthopedic physician. My podiatrist is talking about surgery and I would like to avoid that if I can. Is it possible that the tendon can heal without surgery?

It depends on how bad the tear is, your helath, weight, activity, compliance, etc. In some patients, surgery is indicated, in a non-surgical candidate, I have had success using a Richie type brace.
