tennis elbow

My right arm started hurting about 6 weeks ago and about two weeks into the pain I went to see my Dr. He said it was tennis elbow. He gave me a shot of cortisone and said to try to keep work to a minimum. I’m a horticulturist so I am always doing some work. The pain has continued and got to the point that having someone shake my hand was excruciating. I went to see the Dr. again yesterday and he gave me a bigger, deeper cortisone injection which really hurt. He told me not to do any work for the next two weeks and to ice it twice a day. He said if that did not eliminate the pain he would send me to an orthopedist. Is there anything else I can do? Any exercises to try or movements to completely avoid? Do I have to stay immobile to get better?

Are you right-handed? If so, your left knee will bear the brunt of the force while golfing. I wear a double-hinge Bledsoe brace, my insurance covered about a third of it, but it was still about $250. It really works well, and comfortable, though it gets a little smelly at times. And the worst my knee ever gets now is while golfing (hint hint)
