tibial torsion and running

My 27 yr old daughter was born with severe tibial torsion that was treated with the brace and bar used back then.
It had some limited success.
She walks “flat-footed” and both feet still turn inward somewhat.
The problem is she needs to run to qualify for her job duties once every six months, one-half mile in four minutes.
She did it a couple of times, but now it creates such foot pain and shin splints, she can’t make it and is doing remediation work.
What workout plan and shoes does she need to get her in shape to make this run?

I’m sorry I don’t have a quick answer for you. She need a biomechanical examination where her gait can be evaluated. Whether an orthotic can help would be determined by this exam. She should make an appointment with a podiatrist who makes custom orthotics. Good luck. Vivian A DPM
