Toe: broken or bruised? (disregard previous message)

Hi,
I left this exact message on a previous post a couple of hours ago, so if you haven’t read the other message it is below…
I just wanted to say I do have some bruising, but the bruising is not on the toe itself, it is right underneath the toe on my foot at the joint, but is not very dark. Thank you! Previous Message:I was angry last night, and stupidly kicked a wet dry vac across the floor….my middle toe instantly started to hurt badly, and I couldn’t walk on it….strangely, it isn’t swollen or bruised, but today I still cannot walk on it, it hurts very badly. It feels stiff, and the pain is on the bottom of my foot under my toe more than anything. It doesn’t hurt too badly when I’m not walking. I know there isn’t anything I can do for it even if it is broken, but I would like to know if you have an idea of what I have done to it! I can bend my toe at the “knuckle” slightly, but when I try to bend it further, it hurts too bad, and gets stiff. Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

It certainly is possible that your toe might be broken. An x-ray would be indicated. As far as the “nothing can be done” myth, it always aggravates me when patients mention that. Of course there is lots that can be done. Why should the foot not be treated, but every other part of the body is? There are many things that can be done ranging from splinting to even wearing a cast boot.If you are having trouble then I recommend you see a podiatrist.
