toe pain at night wakes me

(2 discussions)

I jokingly asked my dr if I could have carpal tunnel syndrome in my toes because it hurts just like that – and only at night!
The pain awakens me at night in my left foot — the third and fourth toes hurt SO bad!
If I attempt to massage the foot, there is intense pain in the ball of my foot.. My nights are painful and sleepless!
I wear sandals most of the time (summer) so don’t suggest loose fitting shoes…
I’ve tried to flex the foot upward (stretching it out by putting the toes of the foot against the calf of my other leg), but that doesn’t help either… Any ideas?

This could be muscle spasm or a neuroma or even tarsal tunnel syndrome. I would discuss this further with your doctor. A cortisone injection might be a thought.

I have been troubled with pain in my left great toe at night which prevents me from sleeping thru the night. I get up to go to the bathroom and then cannot get back to sleep because of the pain which throbs in my toe. It feels like a pin is sticking in it on and off in short intervals. I hope you can give me some help. Thank you.
